Doing laundry can be a huge pain in the butt. It’s messy, time-consuming, and frustrating. Some days, the last thing you want to do is go to your laundry room when you get home from work or school. However, laundry is also essential if you don’t want to show up in your pajamas every day at the office.
The good news is that there are solutions to all of these problems!
In this blog post, we will discuss how to do laundry without going crazy and outline the best laundry tips and tricks that have worked for us!
What is a good laundry routine?
A good laundry routine is when you have everything washed, dried, folded, and put away with ample time to spare before work or school the next day. It will require some planning ahead in terms of when you do your wash, but it’s worth it because then there are no last-minute rushes for fresh and clean clothes.
Establishing a weekly routine will make laundry less of a hassle in the long run. Even if you have to wash your clothes mid-week, it’s much better than waiting until next week when you are running low on clean socks or underwear!
How often do I need to do my laundry?
This depends on you.
Some people can get away with doing laundry once a week, while others need to do it every other day or multiple times per week. We recommend trying out different schedules and see what works best for you. Just remember, if you are waiting too long to do your laundry, then there’s a good chance that it will pile up and stress you out!
8 Easy To Follow Laundry Tips And Tricks
Do you dread seeing your washing machine when it’s time to do laundry? Do you have a hard time figuring out what clothes go in the washer and which ones need hand-washing?
Don’t even get us started on folding clothes…
Good news! We have your back.
We’ve listed down these simple tips so you can do laundry without going crazy!
Tip # 1: Do laundry as soon as it’s ready, so you don’t have to worry about it
One of the worst things you can do is procrastinate when it comes to doing laundry.
The longer your dirty clothes sit in a pile, the dirtier they will get and the harder it will be to wash them. If you have time throughout the week, it’s best to start washing and folding right away so that everything stays clean and you don’t have to worry about it.
Tip # 2: Make sure to check the care labels on your clothing before washing them
If you’re trying to figure out how often or not you should be running a certain piece of clothing through the wash, check the care label. Different fabrics and garments require different amounts of upkeep and temperature, so don’t assume that everything can get thrown into one load!
For example, some cotton fabrics can shrink if washed on high heat or hot water while washing in cold water will help prolong the life of some of your garments. If you are unsure, washing clothes in warm water is usually a safe bet.
There are various fabrics out there, and you should always check the care label to know how often they can be washed!
Tip # 3: Make sure that you’re constantly checking pockets before doing laundry!
This is one of the most essential tips for ensuring that clothes stay clean and free from getting lost in the wash cycle. Before putting any clothing through a washing machine, make sure you check all pockets for items like stray coins, money, or tissues!
If you’re washing clothes that belong to your children, then it’s best to double-check all pockets just in case they have something hidden away.
Some of these items can also damage your washers so it’s best to clear out everything first.
Tip # 4: Use a suitable laundry detergent for your washing machine!
Front-loaders use less water than top-loaders, but they need a particular type of laundry detergent to get the best clean. Detergents for top loaders will not dissolve in front-load washers and can leave a film on your clothes and in your machine.
If you have a front-loading washing machine, make sure to only use the correct type of detergent for it and don’t use too much detergent. This will make sure that you get the best clean possible!
Tip #5: Wash dark and light clothes separately
Whether you’re washing by hand or machine, you need to take some time to separate dark clothes and light garments. Dark and light colors can bleed into one another, which leads to duller-looking clothing that could be ruined if the dye transfers onto your lighter-colored garments! This tip alone will save you from major headaches, so we recommend always washing dark and light clothes separately!
Tip #6: Avoid the use of chlorine bleach
Even if your clothes are color-safe, chlorine bleach can still damage the fibers in them over time – which means that they won’t last as long! This will also cause colors to fade faster, so you’ll have to replace items more often than usual.
If you want to keep your clothes looking brand new and vibrant for longer, then we definitely recommend avoiding chlorine bleach as much as possible.
It can be a great solution when necessary, but make sure that you only use the right amount of it! Too little or too much will cause damage, so err on the side of caution!
Tip # 7: Add white vinegar or baking soda to your rinse cycle
Vinegar is a miracle worker when it comes to getting rid of buildup and odors in fabric. It’s especially important if you have high-efficiency (HE) machines so that you don’t accidentally leave behind residue from the detergent!
Add about one cup of white vinegar to your rinse cycle after you’ve already added the laundry detergent. This will help eliminate any leftover soap or dirt from your wash load and leave behind a fresh, clean scent!
Baking soda is another excellent option to use instead of vinegar if you don’t like the smell. It works similarly and will help get rid of any funky odors that linger on your clothes or towels after they’ve been washed!
Tip# 8: Use a drying rack instead of dryer sheets
Dryer sheets are full of chemicals and can leave behind a residue on your clothes. Not only that, but they’re also full of extra static electricity, which means more time spent trying to get rid of the pesky flyaway hairs!
Instead, make sure you invest in drying racks for your laundry room to air dry your clothes. They work great with all types of fabrics and will still add an element of freshness to your clothes.
They’re also beneficial if you have a small space and don’t want to take up too much room with yet another appliance!
Laundry doesn’t have to be a frustrating task as long as you follow these eight simple tips and stick with a good laundry routine. From knowing the best way to sort your clothes, how often should you wash them, and what detergent is right for you, we’ve got all of the information that will help make doing laundry an easy process.
